My plumber arrived a little late this morning but when he arrived his big van pulled up outside louis was going mental. He unloaded all his gear. I watched him carry my new boiler indoors I felt guilty because I could not help him he really struggled up my front steps.
But soon he was underway dismantling my old one cutting pipes etc. After a couple of hours and cups of tea my boiler cupboard was now empty.
Sods law the new one was bigger and the pipe outlets were in a different order and the flu was totally different . I got that frightening HM! this could be a problem. That flu is going to be awkward . May have to cut a new outlet in the outside wall. HM! I wonder where that pipe exits. A few more HM!s later it got worse. This cupboard wall is not a solid wall he said. And the back board that the boiler was hanging on is not secure and I am not sure how we mount the new boiler. The rockboard protectorsboard was levered off the wall. We dont need those because the new boilers run cooler. OK. After a while he decided that it wasnt such a problem . Soon several problems seem to be overcome and the boiler was now secured on the wall. Pipe work was joined and soldered. Now it was late. So he packed and now will return in the morning. It looks so neat and tidy. Watch this space
Once upon a time he would have arrived with a mate and carrying the boiler in wouldn’t have been a problem. Doesn’t happen nowadays and all too often householders are expected to help carry heavy items.
