Today is an exciting day that took me totally by surprise.
We have been secretly planning with our Lawyers for a long time that I should use my name for a foundation to raise funds for Research and for grants to help other causes ie : one of them being my passion for extra funding for Mesothelioma Nurses.
I was also worried about the fact Mesowarriors are being diagnosed younger and younger so child care etc etc was so difficult for those that had to hunt for trials further away from their local hospital.
We have had so many meetings and we have been putting together changing and altering until we were satisfied.
I wanted the list to be so long so the Lawyers have had to sort me out and keep it small to start with then expanding as we grow. So it finally came to putting it before the Charity Commission and I was so worried they would turn it down as they get so many. I also thought because of that fact it would take ages. Last Friday we had an email to say they have sent amendments would we have a Meeting, so we agreed.
It was with a nervous trip to the park with Louis and a dash back yesterday to attend the meeting.
The team were all there and Trevor, our lawyer, read us just three amendments that the commission wanted to just tweak. This was soon agreed and we knew it would be sent back today.
I can’t believe that we get an email today with the Commission saying:

You have applied to register the above organisation as a charity.
We are satisfied that THE MAVIS NYE FOUNDATION is a charity and it has been entered onto the Register of Charities with the Registered Charity Number 1172765.
Our decision
The decision to register was based on our assessment of the information supplied during the application process and the declarations given in the trustee declaration form and we are satisfied that THE MAVIS NYE FOUNDATION is established for charitable purposes only for the public benefit.
At this point I just have to thank my Legal team who have worked so hard to bring my dream to the be an actual Charity. We would never have achieved this as I do not know all the legal pitfalls. they have kept me on the straight and narrow pathway.
There is still a lot of work to do as we needed a web page with information on and a bank account these are under way as we have an Accountant and a Web Designer, there are more meetings to bring a Board together but the worse part is over we have that so important number 1172765 CRM:0001606.
The charity’s details will be publicly available on The Charities Commission within 48 hours and we will be able to see it there.
My Dream has started I now will leave a legacy in a way I never thought possible.
