As we travelled to our Kent and Medway Cancer Action Partnership Meeting Yesterday we passed so many bluebell bell woods Oh so pretty.
We all met up and signed in finding a seat after saying hello to all the members that were attending.
Naomi Webb The Cancer Service’s Manager of East Kent Hospitals foundation trust welcomed us.
Ian Vousden K&M cancer alliance spoke so well about A new landscape. The new 5 Year Inspiration Plan, very Interesting.
There is a 62 day Target from first seeing a patient to treatment, Faster Diagnosis, Radio Therapy Programme, New Diagnostic Assessment Centre’s all around the country
Extra Money to roll pout equipment nationally. 16 Alliances– this is NHS England so I don’t know about Scotland and Wales NHS. But if you are interested to play a part any Patient Carer can join in. Mathew Kershaw and Dr Henry Taylor are leading this new Plan.

Local plans to improve health and care
Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs)
The NHS and local councils have come together in 44 areas covering all of England to develop proposals and make improvements to health and care. These proposals, called sustainability and transformation plans (STPs), are place-based and built around the needs of the local population.
The keywords are Prevention Diagnosis, Living Beyond, Treatment and care.
We are having 50% Survival in cancer.
They are heading for 31 Days of waiting time to get people on the Pathway 85% Nationally met this target for 2 years Running.
My Question was about Screening Ian said The Screening Of Lung cancers will happen.
Then we had a discussion about what KM-CAP means to me.
David Hamilton went among us to say what it means to be part of the team. He had us laughing as he is so funny. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Engineers. and I never knew that. He has a brother who has just been diagnosed with Mesothelioma and asked if I would contact him to help him. We never know when we are going to meet a new Mesowarrior. I have his email so I will contact when I finish this blog.

Lore what co-production and Partnership working is:
- Understand the difference between co-production, engagement, participation and
involvement - Identify the principles of co-production
- Improve knowledge and confidence about how to put co-production into
practice - After Lunch it was a Table Discussions – Small group discussion exercise on the above
- Reflect on new ways of working – for each of the partners – to achieve co-production, i.e. what this will mean to: Cancer Patient Representatives,
Service Providers, Commissioners and Community Organisations - Discuss the structures needed to build a culture of co-production
We raised our points and the lady sitting next to me who was a breast cancer patient said that women don’t realise that at 74 when screening stops we can demand a Mammogram.
Women who are aged 50-70 and are registered with a GP are automatically invited for screening every three years.
Breast screening is currently offered to women aged 50-70 in England. However, the NHS is in the process of extending the programme as a trial, offering screening to some women aged 47-73.
You will first be invited for screening between your 50th and 53rd birthday, although in some areas you’ll be invited from the age of 47 as part of the trial extension of the programme.
If you want to change the appointment you’ve been given, contact the name and address on your invitation letter.
You may be eligible for breast cancer screening before the age of 50 if you have a higher-than-average risk of developing breast cancer, see below.
If you’re over the age of 70 (73 in areas where the trial is in place), you’ll stop receiving screening invitations. However, you’re still eligible for screening and can arrange an appointment directly with your local breast screening unit.
We carried on and did a point on yellow sticker’s of what we can do about that.
I could wait to get home and as Ray said he would do a video that would raise awareness to make sure women did know. Faster Diagnosis is needed of all cancers so we will start with Breast.
